Delightful North East: Assam Meghalaya
Day 01 – Maa Kamakhya darshan at Guwahati – Shillong
Today you will arrive at the Guwahati airport, welcome you on arrival and drive to Nilachal hill where Maa Kamakhya temple is situated. The temple is one of the 51 Shaktipitha existed around India and others part of the world. After darshan drive to Shillong enroute Umiam lake, in Shillong you will visit Wards Lake, Elephant falls, Golf Link, Don Bosco Museum etc. Overnight at Shillong.
Day 02- Shillong – Mawphlang – Laitlum – Shillong
After breakfast drive to Sacred Mawphlang forest. nestled in the East Khasi Hills near Mawphlang village, has its roots steeped deep in the age-old religious beliefs, in which forests are regarded as a sacred entity. After visiting the forest later drive back to Shillong via Laitlum. This is a canyon, one of the most beautiful location of Meghalaya. Cloud cover the place most of the day. After the sightseeing drive to Shillong. Upon arrival at the city you can visit Don Bosco museum, Wards lake, Golf link etc. Overnight at Shillong.
Day 03 – Shillong – Mawsynram- Shillong
After breakfast check out from the hotel and leave for Mawsynram. It’s a green little village located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. This is famous for being the wettest region in the world, Mawsynram holds a Guinness World Record for receiving almost 26,000 mm of rainfall back in the year 1985. There is a cave where its prehistoric Shiv Linga is existed. After that on returning back to Shillong visit Mawphlang forest. The forest is peserved by the local Khasi people which are local tribes lives over there. After that returning back to the Shillong for overnight stay.
Day 04 – Shillong – Cherrapunjee
Today early check out from the Shillong hotel and leave for Cherrapunjee (it takes 01hr :30min) . Cherrapunjee is known for beautiful waterfalls, fog and myst. A paradise for nature lover. The destination is known for one of the most rainiest places in the world. It has numerous places to visit. Impressive limestone caves. Visit the Nohkalikai Falls, Seven sister falls, Mawsmai Caves, Dainthlen Fall, , Arwa Cave, And Eco Park etc. After a day long sightseeing return back to Guwahati. Transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 05 – Cherrapunjee – Nongriat – Cherrapunjee
Today after breakfast leave for Nongriat, this is the place where Double decker living root bridge is located. To reach the bridge one have to tracking down almost 3500 steps, we suggest you to assist by local guide. If time permit then visit the Rainbow falls also. After a day long activity return back to Cherrapunjee for overnight stay.
Day 06 – Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong village – Dawki
After breakfast check out from the hotel and leave for Dawki, Pristine water in Umgkot river always mesmerisr the traveler. You can enjoy boatig overthere. After sightseeing proceed to Mawlynnong Village, the village has earned the distinction of being the cleanest village in India as well as Asia. Mawlynnong nestled in the pristine hill state of Meghalaya, is along the Indo-Bangla border. This cute and colorful little village is known for its cleanliness. The main occupation of the villagers is agriculture. They mostly grow betel nut. About 82 households live in Mawlynnong. Keeping the surrounding environment clean is an age old tradition. ‘Discover India’ magazine declared the village as the cleanest in Asia in 2003 and besides the picturesque village, offers many interesting sights such as the living roots bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Overnight at Dawki.
Day 07 – Dawki – Jowai – Krangsuri – Shillong
Today morning after breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Jowai , situated in Jaintia Hills, Visit the veautiful places like Krangsuri Water falles, Nartiang etc and after that drive to Shillong for overnight stay.
Day 08 – Guwahati Airport drop
Today after breakfast check out from the hotel and leave for Guwahati airport to catch your flight for onward connection.
